Pre-Surgical Instructions

Before arriving at our facility for your animal's appointment, please familiarize yourself with the important information below.

​

IF YOU OR ANYONE IN YOUR HOUSEHOLD IS EXPERIENCING COVID-19 SYMPTOMS, WAS

EXPOSED TO COVID-19, IS AWAITING TEST RESULTS FOR COVID-19, OR IS POSITIVE FOR COVID-19

YOU MUST NOTIFY TWIN PORTS SPAY/NEUTER IMMEDIATELY AT MEDICAL@NORTHLANDSPAYNEUTER.ORG AS WE WILL NEED TO RESCHEDULE YOUR PET(S) APPOINTMENT - NO EXCEPTIONS!

 

ANY DISRESPECT AND/OR RUDENESS TO OUR STAFF WILL NOT BE TOLERATED

 

ANYONE WHO MAY BE DROPPING OFF AND/OR PICKING UP MUST BE AUTHORIZED ON THE ACCOUNT

During this time, we will be allowing all clientele in the building at once. Please park in the parking lot on the west side of the building. FOR THE COURTESY OF OUR STAFF AND OTHER CLIENTELE SMOKING WILL NOT BE PERMITTED IN FRONT OF THE CLINIC. All pets should remain in your vehicle until check-in is complete and you are directed by a staff member to retrieve your pet(s).

Pre­-Surgical Blood Work

Pets that are 5 years of age or older are REQUIRED to have pre-surgical blood work performed prior to surgery. If your pet(s) is over 5 years of age and pre-surgical blood work has not been performed/provided, they will be declined. Please contact Twin Ports Spay/Neuter at medical@northlandspayneuter.org prior to your pet's surgery to set up an appointment to obtain the pre-surgical blood work.

Withhold Food

The night before surgery you must keep your pet(s) indoors, feed them their normal meal, but remove all food after midnight - if your pet(s) is under 6 months of age food is allowed until 6 A.M. the day of surgery. Always have water available - water is encouraged to minimize the chance of dehydration. If your pet(s) is allowed food after the designated time, your pet will be declined for surgery and you will be required to reschedule your appointment(s).

Keep Your Animal Indoors

All animals must be kept indoors or confined the night before surgery. This ensures that no traumatic events or ingestion of unknown materials have occurred, which could potentially be dangerous during surgery.

Check­-In

The person dropping off the pet(s) must be authorized on the account prior to drop-off. If someone other than yourself drops-off your pet(s) and is not authorized on your account, your pet(s) will be declined – if this occurs you will have to reschedule your appointment and the $50.00/appointment deposit will be non-transferable/non-refundable. If you need to add an individual to your account, please email medical@northlandspayneuter.org.

 

Check-in is between 8:00-8:30A.M. - If you arrive after the designated time there is a chance you may be assessed a late fee or your pet(s) could be declined for the day – if this occurs you will have to reschedule your appointment and the $75.00 appointment deposit will be non-transferable/non-refundable.

 

We ask that you please leave your pet(s) in the vehicle until the check-in process has been completed. A staff member will confirm your appointment and provide an admission form if you have not already printed one off prior to your appointment. Please fill the admission form out completely in blue or black ink and mark any additional services you would like us to perform at the time of the procedure. If you do not you mark a service you would like performed, it will not be performed as we do not have authorization. Upon your departure, you may request a copy of our post-operative care/instructions if needed (also attached to this email). Please read through the discharge instructions and note any questions/comments/concerns you may want to discuss with a Twin Ports Spay/Neuter representative prior to the discharge process.

Dogs should be allowed to urinate/defecate prior to transportation to the clinic and must be on leash upon entry to the clinic. Please remove any pet clothing, training collars, or spiked collars prior to admission into the building –  flat collars and harnesses are allowed. Twin Ports Spay/Neuter will provide a slip lead for clinic use once your pet(s) has entered the building.

All cats must arrive in a clean kennel that can be securely fastened - we recommend placing one cat per kennel. If a cat arrives without a kennel or a kennel that is not able to be securely fastened, Twin Ports Spay/Neuter will provide a cardboard carrier for an additional $6.00. If a cat arrives in a kennel that is not adequately clean, Twin Ports Spay/Neuter will provide a cardboard carrier for an additional $6.00. Please remove all clothing, leashes, and/or collar from your pet(s) prior to admission into the building.

Vaccinations

If your pet(s) is 12 weeks or older and is current with the Rabies vaccine, you will need to bring the Rabies Certificate at the time of check-in or you may have the administering veterinary clinic fax the Rabies Certificate to 218-623-6719 prior to your appointment.

 

THE RABIES CERTIFICATE MUST BE PROVIDED/PRESENT AT THE TIME OF CHECK-IN

TWIN PORTS SPAY/NEUTER STAFF WILL NOT CALL CLINICS OR WAIT FOR A FAX TO VERIFY RABIES VACCINATION STATUS

 

Please note that we do not accept the Rabies Tag as proof of rabies vaccination. If your pet(s) is 12 weeks or older and not current with the Rabies vaccine or you have not provided the Rabies Certificate at the time of check-in, we will administer the vaccine at the time of surgery for an additional $15.00/vaccination- NO EXCEPTIONS!

 

Payment

Payment is due in full at the time of service. We will be accepting all cash or electronic payment in the form of Visa, Discover, Mastercard, American Express - we will not accept checks or CareCredit.

Discharge

Dogs will be discharged the same day as surgery, usually between 12:00 P.M. and 3:00 P.M. However, this time can vary depending on how your pet recovers from anesthesia and will be designated by Twin Ports Spay/Neuter staff. Twin Ports Spay/Neuter will email you a link during the day of surgery to finalize payment, please use the link to finalize your payment prior to discharge. When you arrive to pick up your pet(s), please approach a Twin Ports Spay/Neuter representative.

Cats will be group discharged the day following surgery at 7:30A.M. sharp - please arrive promptly to discharge, if you are not present at the beginning of discharge you will be charged a $40.00 late fee and will be required to pick up you cat at the next day's discharge as we do not have staffing to accommodate discharge aside from our designated discharge time.

Twin Ports Spay/Neuter will email you during the day of surgery to finalize payment - when you receive this email it will indicate your pet(s) has completed their surgical procedure and is in recovery, please use the link to finalize your payment prior to discharge.
